Immigrants now using children to gain entry to the US
Illegal migrants who try to cross over into the US border are now using kids as young as three years old to gain entry into the country. This scheming and manipulative move to infiltrate the borders by using children as a means to gain sympathy has been recognised by authorities, who are now taking steps to secure the borders. In response to this chaos, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol has adopted a policy of taking kids into their refuge by securing them from these law-breakers.
Central American men fleeing with children has risen in the last seven months. Many of them come from war ravaged countries where violence is rife, and thus it is a matter of grave concern that they may be promulgating that violent culture in the United States as well, threatening the peace and security in the country.
Residents in the border area have reported their concerns to Wolf News. One resident, Karoline Spacey says, "I fear for the safety of my children. These vile men, who are using children to gain what they want, must be punished at all costs."
Another resident, Harvey Berneystein has commented upon the increase in crime rates over the last half year. "It is no doubt that there has been a noticeable increase in the crime rate. Cases of sexual assault and rapes have increased ten-fold. And we haven't seen any significant action against it. Instead, we're letting more of these men come in."
A long-standing 1997 court settlement mandates that kids should be placed in the least restrictive setting possible while their claims are processed, which means that the rights and well being of the children are prioritised above all. Since these children are brought into the country illegally, they have minimal rights and are vulnerable to be subjected to criminal activities. Many of the trespassers go on to sell their kids into trafficking networks or coerce them into dehumanising acts such as forced begging. Many are also exploited sexually, as previously mentioned by local Harvey Berneystein. The risk of continuing to keep children under the care of law breakers is dangerous to their health and well being, an aspect the authorities have promptly realised and are working to prevent.

The task of this assignment was to recreate an article as a pastiche or a parody from a different ideological viewpoint than the one in the original article. The text I have written is a parody loosely based upon the issue of illegal immigrant children addressed in a Fox News article (http://www.foxnews.com/transcript/2014/07/03/influx-illegal-immigrant-children-leaving-border-vulnerable.html). The article contains numerous instances of bias against illegal immigrant children. I have written this parody by replicating the conventions of a news article (as opposed to the interview format in the original article). The parody also contains allusions to two famous figures, Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein, in a satirical context not necessarily meant to echo the main purpose of the article, but to elevate the sense of dark humour and address important issues in society.
